Even while residing abroad, it is possible for a foreign national to establish a company in Japan. However, a local representative or agent is usually required.
- Choose a Company Type:
– Common choices: Kabushiki Kaisha (Corporation) or Godo Kaisha (Limited Liability Company) - Create a Business Plan:
– A practical and sustainable business plan is essential, especially for the visa application. - Decide and Deposit Capital:
– A minimum of 5 million yen is generally required to meet visa conditions.
– Funds should be transferred from your overseas account to a Japanese bank account (a representative’s account may be used initially). - Company Registration:
– Articles of Incorporation need to be notarized (for Corporation).

Step 2: Applying for a Business Manager Visa (COE Application)
To enter Japan, you need to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) for the Business Manager Visa.
